Many home theater sound systems are claimed to create "palpable" sound, but how many really deliver? If your action films are less than visceral, Clark Synthesis has the answer.

The Littleton, CO company has introduced a new line of home theater seating that includes built-in transducers, for the ultimate in cinematic realism. The Sensation features a built-in, customized Clark Tactile Sound Transducers™-audio drivers that produce vibrations over the full range of tactile and audible frequencies. Unlike subwoofers, which move only air, or low-frequency "shakers" that couple bass frequencies to floors or other resonant surfaces, Clark's Tactile Sound Transducers™ reinforce the actions of ordinary speakers and subwoofers, increasing the sense of realism through bone conduction. Seated in the Sensation, a movie fan feels the "natural percussive impact of movie sounds," according to a September 7 press release.

The Sensation has a timeless, modern look that will integrate into almost any room decor. The frame is made of ultra-rigid New Zealand Beech, and the composite wood side panels are specially treated with heavy-duty adhesives, dowels, and fasteners to enable the transmission of tactile sound without adversely affecting structural integrity of the chair. Think of it as a percussive instrument, like a drum or piano, in which you sit.

Sensation chairs have flat side panels that allow them to fit closely side-by-side, and require only a few inches of clearance to recline fully. A padded footrest extends when the chair rocks back, and a stainless steel drink holder is built into the armrest. Clark Synthesis offers a variety of commercial-grade plush upholstery fabrics to suit every taste. Retail price is $2,495, including chair and transducer.
