Bafflingly Beautiful In-wall Sound
The new AIM DiPole in-wall speaker uses a molded, curving baffle design that eliminates sharp angles to create a diffuse sound field when the speakers are used for the rear channel in a custom-installed home theater system.
Part of SpeakerCraft's AIM series of in-wall/in-ceiling speakers, each AIM DiPole includes a pair of 5.25" woofers and two 1" dome tweeters mounted 50 degrees off-axis from each other. Although the model name makes it seem like the speaker is strictly a dipole, in fact switchable circuitry allows for use as either a bipole or a dipole depending on homeowner preference or installation restrictions.
SpeakerCraft considers the new model to be "a piece of acoustic artwork". Unfortunately, most homeowners will have the speakers installed with the grilles on - and many won't ever see what beauty lies behind the curtain. But at least you and I will know, and, really, that's all that counts, isn't it?
