Philips hasn't been eager to divulge many details about their upcoming 56-inch 21:9 TV, but some lucky British reporters got a chance to see it in person. You can't really tell much from the video, but we know it has five HDMI ports and that at least one of these things really does exist. Other pre-release info suggests that it's going to be using an "advanced technolog" (those are the words from the press release) to eliminate the need for letterboxing. That's something we will be very interested to check out. Until then, we'll have to settle for our normal HDTVs and wonder whether Philips is actually doing something innovative or if it's just another gimmick like the horribly cheesy amBX system.
