Apparently, many people bought their LCD televisions without a high-def source to feed it. Now that they're using the sets with high-definition broadcasts, suddenly they can see the flaws and drawbacks of their new toys.

A report in Digitimes says although brand-name manufacturers lowered the prices of their smaller 32-inch and 40-inch LCD TVs, sales increased but the return rates increased 25-30%. They reported this was due to the introduction of high-definition broadcasts, where folks can compare the resolution of their LCD sets.

It's too bad people weren't happy with their initial purchases. Let's hope manufacturers take note and realize consumers really are looking for better images, and the only way to help the transition to digital will be to produce better products. -Leslie Shapiro
