Epson Announces Affordable Home Cinema Projectors

Epson today announced the addition of two 1080p projectors to its popular Home Cinema series. The three-chip LCD models 1040 and 1440, said to feature up to 3,000/4,400 lumens of color brightness and 3,000/4,400 lumens of white brightness, respectively, will be available at select retailers nationwide next month at $799 and $1,699.

Both projectors feature a built-in sound system, an intuitive home screen for simplified navigation, setup tools for flexible placement, as well as two HDMI ports, one of which supports Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) for connecting a Blu-ray player, gaming console, Roku Stick, Apple TV, and other devices.

Calling it a “flat-panel killer,” Epson said the Home Cinema 1440 is “one of the brightest home projectors available on the market.” Additional features include Farouja’s DCDi Cinema video enhancement technology, 1.6x optical zoom, and split screen capability to project two different videos or still images side-by-side.
