What Next? A Mini Tablet for Your Wrist?
The company sees the water-resistant device as a smartphone replacement. You can send emails and text, surf the web, use it as a fitness tracker, play movies or games, and listen to music. It weighs 4 ounces and has a built-in speaker, GPS, and 16GB of storage (expandable to 64GB).
"It's not just a glorified notification center, we eventually see everyone ditching their phones," said co-founder Gabe Grifoni in an interview with USA Today. "This will replace the need for smartphones, wallets, watches, fitness trackers, everything."
The product launch, funded through an Indiegogo campaign that has raised more than $460,000, is available for preorder at the discounted price of $299 plus shipping (regular price is $399). You can get the Cuff in black, red, or white with a silicone wristband that comes in eight colors. As of this morning only 29 Cuffs had been ordered.
