The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) Classic Edition, a miniaturized remake of the popular ’90s console slated for release September 29, sold out within minutes of it being offered for pre-order yesterday on Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, and other sites.

Demand for the retro console, which is priced at $80, is high and the sellout has frustrated fans who went through a similar situation late last year when Nintendo released the NES Classic Edition console.

To ameliorate concerns that the new system will be impossible to get like its predecessor, Nintendo has said a “significant amount of additional systems will be shipped to stores for launch day, and throughout the balance of the calendar year."

In June, Nintendo issued the following statement to Business Insider:

We aren’t providing specific numbers, but we will produce significantly more units of Super NES Classic Edition than we did of NES Classic Edition.

The system will include recreations of the original controllers and come preloaded with 21 games, including the classics The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, Super Mario World, EarthBound, and Donkey Kong Country. The unreleased Star Fox 2 will also be preloaded on the console.
