Vizio’s New $140 Soundbar Designed for Big Bass

Vizio today introduced a space-saving 36-inch soundbar featuring DTS Virtual:X surround processing and built-in “deep-bass modules.”

Described as one of Vizio’s “most versatile audio solutions,” the SB362An-F6 soundbar ($140) is a self-contained 2.1-channel system with four drivers, including two 3-inch woofers paired with four “deep bass modules” rated to deliver low frequencies down to 50 Hz — all mounted in a 36-inch-wide enclosure that’s just over 2 inches tall and 5 inches deep.

The system supports Bluetooth streaming and is equipped with Dolby Audio and DTX Virtual:X for simulated surround sound — including overhead effects — and DTS TruVolume processing, which equalizes volume when switching between sources.

Vizio says the soundbar is capable of producing a sound-pressure level (SPL) of 97 dB (C-weighted and measured at 1 meter).

The system, which can be placed in front of a TV or mounted on the wall, is intended to complement sets with screens 40 inches or larger and comes with a remote control and all necessary cables for easy setup. Connections include analog and optical digital audio inputs and a USB port.

The soundbar is available now at vizio.com and slated to roll out soon at Walmart, Costco, and Meijer stores.
