Nativ Unveils Control Apps for Hi-Res Music Server
The apps, available through the Apple App Store and Google Play, replicate the Vita’s user interface and provide control and playback functionality from iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.
Nativ said the Vita can also be controlled through Roon’s Remote apps for Android and iOS. The $1,599 server is designed as an open system that provides access to its Digital Media Renderer (DMR) and Digital Media Server (DMS) allowing the use of UPnP/DLNA applications such as BubbleUPnP (Android) and 8Player (iOS) for browsing libraries and playing music.
Prior to availability of the apps, the Vita’s user interface could only be accessed through its touchscreen or on a TV that’s connected to the server via HDMI.
“With the launch of our smartphone apps you can now also browse your music from the comfort of your couch,” said Michael Li, Nativ co-founder and CEO.
