Salamander’s Latest AV Cabinets Float on the Wall

AV furniture maker Salamander Designs is seeking to fill a void for cabinets that conserve floor space.

The Connecticut-based company unveiled a “floating wall cabinet” at CEDIA Expo 2018 that actually takes up no floor space at all: it attaches to the wall below your TV.

Available in triple and quad widths, the storage cabinet features a flip-down front and is a slender 10 inches tall and 12 inches deep.

The cabinet (and other Salamander furniture) is offered in three new finishes: Lancaster, a natural-tone rustic finish that resembles a rough-hewn barn board; Osaka (pictured), inspired by the traditional Japanese Shou Sugi Ban wood finishing technique in which fire is applied to give the wood — ash in this case — a charred appearance; and Seattle, a contemporary style featuring a “vertical grass texture” on oak.
