Portrait Display's CalMAN 2018 software (www.portrait.com) controlling a Murideo Fresco Six-G pattern generator was used for calibration. Measurements were taken with a Minolta CS-200 colorimeter (NIST certified 08/2018).

For test bench measurements, a 100-IRE Full Field White pattern was displayed after target locations were mapped using a crosshatch pattern. All measurements were taken perpendicular to the measurement point at a distance of 10 feet from the 87-inch-wide screen surface in a totally dark room. The 30-degrees-from-center measurement was taken at precisely 35 degrees (accurate using a Bosch electronic carpenter's angle finder).

Luminance with a 100-IRE full raster pattern was measured at screen center from a 2° angle distended left and distended right to avoid the meter shadow from being in the light path. Those two angle measurements averaged out to 14.2 foot-lamberts at 6,522-K color temperature (14 foot-lamberts is the SMPTE target for professional cinema that is not DCI).

The chart readings here indicate exceptional uniformity for the Slate 1.2, with very minimal falloff in luminance across the midsection of the screen. Color temperature also remained essentially stable at any point across the screen. Light falls off noticeably outside SI's viewing cone of 70 percent, indicating that the screen's ambient light rejection properties are performing as intended, though color shift remains modest.—MPH
