Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous—Warner Brothers

Sandra Bullock returns as FBI agent Gracie Hart in Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, with a new partner (Regina King) and personal stylist (Diedrich Bader) in tow. While she's moved on from the beauty pageant, her connections to it have not been severed completely. When Miss United States Cheryl Frasier is kidnapped and held for ransom, Hart must travel to Sin City and again rely on her instincts and expertise to save her friend. Bullock's comedic routine is a little boring and predictable at times, but she still pulls her character off nicely and carries the movie with her usual charm.

I've got no complaints about either the video or audio quality. The 2.35:1 anamorphic presentation is clean, with no visible artifacts to ruin the bright Las Vegas background. This film doesn't demand too much of your speakers, as the sound comes mostly from dialogue and Bullock's snorting. The Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack could have been put to better use with a few more music-driven scenes.

Special features run slim on Armed and Fabulous, limited to just deleted scenes and the original theatrical trailer. It would have been nice to throw in the typical behind-the-scenes featurette, at least.

Miss Congeniality 2 isn't as good as its predecessor, but Bullock, King, and Bader keep the laughs coming with ease. It makes for a good weekend rental.
