First 3D Live Sports Show Coming
3D fans will get a jolt this Wednesday night, March 24, 2010, when Cablevision will treat 3D TV early adopters to a hockey game with two New York teams, the Rangers and the Islanders. Cablevision's MSG network is calling it "the first network hockey telecast ever produced in 3D," making MSG "the first network in America to offer home viewers a live 3D sports telecast."
So the honors will not to go Comcast or DirecTV after all.
Cablevision will carry the event on a special channel at 7 p.m. In addition, punters can buy tickets for a special screening from the Rangers site via Ticketmaster.
For you droolers out there: 3ality Digital will provide the image capture technology. The company has already been involved in a soccer broadcast for Britain's BSkyB satellite network, NFL and college football games shown in theaters, and the 2010 Sony Open golf tournament.
