Calibration and Measurement

As delivered the set was so vivid that I could not watch it. Two global settings needed adjusting before you do anything else with this set. Change the day/night setting to night, and change the color temperature to medium. After that, I used Video Essentials to adjust brightness and contrast. When ISF calibrator Jamie Wilson measured it in this condition, it was within shouting distance of the NTSC standard, 6500 degrees Kelvin. It is generally agreed that only the most trained videophile, looking at test patterns, can distinguish the difference between settings that are 1,000 to 1,500 degrees apart. In any case, Wilson was able to bring the set to within a few hundreds degrees of the standard.
