Yamaha’s New Slimline AVR Has Bluetooth Output

Yamaha is expanding its Slimline series of AV receivers, which includes the Top Pick winning RX-S600 introduced last year.

Standing just over 4 inches tall, the new 5.1-channel RX-S601 network receiver, intended for limited space environments such as small apartments, will be available this month for $650.

The receiver supports 4K Ultra HD passthrough, HDCP 2.2 copy protection, high-resolution music playback, and is compatible with Yamaha's MusicCast wireless multiroom audio system, bringing the list of MusicCast-capable products to around 20.

Yamaha says the S601 is also the first receiver to support Bluetooth as both a wireless input and output, allowing audio streamed from a phone or tablet to be simultaneously streamed from the receiver to other Bluetooth-capable devices.

It will be $650 list.
Good idea, as most AVRs are big boxes with a lot of empty space inside.

The sony DN1060 was the first Bluetooth transmitting receiver.
