Good thing I'm now single. I'm purchasing the new Marantz SR8012,and looking right at two PB4000's ? I was looking at the SB16's,now these ? this is a tough decision...Damn it !
New SVS Subs Deliver Flagship Tech at Lower Prices
The 4000 Series replaces the company’s 13-Ultra Series with three new models featuring higher output, deeper low-frequency extension, and more advanced control options thanks to the use of more powerful amplifiers, redesigned drivers, and a digital signal processor that can be controlled via a smartphone app available for iOS and Android devices.
The SB-4000 is a sealed-cabinet design measuring 18.3 x 17.8 x 20.9 inches with a 1,200-watt RMS amplifier, rated frequency response of 19-310 Hz ±3 dB, and rated maximum low-frequency output of 127 dB (32 Hz measured at 1 meter). Pricing is $1,500 in black ash or $1,600 in gloss black with a steel mesh grille.
The PB-4000 is a ported-cabinet design measuring 23.4 x 20.5 x 30 inches with a 1,200-watt RMS amplifier and variable port tuning. Rated frequency response is 16-200 Hz ±3dB (standard mode), 13-200 Hz ±3dB (extended mode), and 18-200 Hz ±3dB (sealed mode). Maximum low frequency output is rated as 134 dB (32 Hz measured at 1 meter). Pricing is $1,900 in black ash or $2,000 in gloss black with a steel mesh grille.
The PC-4000 is a ported cylinder design measuring 47 x 16.6 inches with a 1,000-watt RMS amplifier and three tuning modes. Rated frequency response is 17-200 Hz ±3dB (standard mode), 15-200 Hz ±3dB (extended mode), and 16-200 Hz ±3dB (sealed mode). Maximum low-frequency output is rated as 133 dB (32 Hz measured at 1 meter). Pricing with a gloss black top is $1,800, which includes SVS’s highly effective SoundPath Subwoofer Isolation System.
All models are housed in a double-thick MDF cabinet with rigid internal bracing and feature a proprietary 13.5-inch driver with a 40-pound dual ferrite motor assembly and Sledge STA-1200D amplifier said to combine the high-current output of discrete MOSFETs with Class D efficiency. The amplifier is harnessed by a 50-MHz Analog Devices Audio DSP with 56-bit filtering that SVS calls “the most sophisticated DSP engine ever used in a home audio subwoofer.”
You can store custom presets and adjust polarity, room gain, phase alignment, volume, and parametric EQ via the SVS app or supplied remote control and front-panel display.
The 4000 Series subwoofers also include Active Power Factor Correction (PFC), a combination line conditioner, surge suppressor, and voltage regulator that enables the amplifier to deal with voltage fluctuations.
To introduce the new line, SVS is hosting launch events at dealers in seven cities over the next two months. In addition to product demonstrations there will be multiple prize giveaways, including a grand prize $2,000 SVS home theater system featuring five SVS Prime Satellite speakers, two SVS Prime Elevation Speakers, an SVS SB-1000 subwoofer, and a Dolby Atmos-enabled AV receiver.
