You're probably too busy to watch anyone else's commentaries. My viewing choices are relatively narrowed down. Everything I'm watching at this point is some form of preparation for the movie, so I barely have time to watch anything else. I'm sure I'll check out some other commentaries once I settle down a little bit.

The "movie" you mentioned - you mean JJ Abrams' Star Trek XI, that minor little independent movie project you're working on? [Quinto has been cast as the young Spock.] That's the one. [said with an ominous Sylaresque intonation, quickly followed with a silly giggle]

You're shooting Season 2 now. Since you already know stuff will be shot for future DVDs, do you have to do a lot of behind-the-scenes interviews? Sure, that's always a part of being involved with a show that's as far-reaching and successful as this one. Plus we do things like what we did for the BBC, who came for a very full documentation of the end of the last season. I'd be very interested to see how that turned out. The interviews were really in-depth - some lasted up to an hour - and they shot a ton of B-roll. They're airing it now [overseas] in conjunction with its run, which I think is genius. It'll bring a wider audience to it. I think it's all on YouTube as well.

You have fairly extensive theater training, which I think plays into how well Sylar comes across on the grander, Shakespearean scale. Thank you. I think that's a part of it, too. Our characters exist in a very heightened world on the show, and that's true for Star Trek as well. I never would have imagined sci-fi being my ticket to the party per se, but I'm grateful that it's becoming that. It's a very rich world with a lot of interesting themes being presented and explored. Generally, I find sci-fi to have a core of optimism and humanity that's in great demand in this world that we live in today. So I feel like it's no mistake that I've been drawn to it and that they factor very prominently into my own life. I feel grateful for that bit of it.

It's the perfect intersection of what you thought you were going to do and what you wind up doing in life. Yeah, right? It seems to be that way. That's a nice way of putting it.
