Amazon Gets a Jump on Black Friday

Amazon is aiming to put you in the holiday shopping spirit with the launch of its Black Friday Deals Store and more than a dozen curated holiday gift guides, including an Electronics Gift Guide Store featuring more than 500 products.

The online retail giant said it will offer thousands of deals—more than ever before—and for the first time offer its Prime members the opportunity to buy gifts using Alexa voice shopping. “They can make purchases simply by asking Alexa-enabled devices, like the new Echo Dot, while relaxing at home with family and friends,” said Doug Herrington, senior vice president of North American Retail.

Amazon plans to refresh the site with new deals as often as every five minutes now through December 22 and offer as many as 20 "compelling" Deals of the Day in a single day.

In addition to deals on TVs, projectors, AV receivers, soundbars, speakers, and products in several other categories, Amazon’s Electronics Gift Guide has an Amazon Launchpad section featuring innovations from up-and-coming startups.

Prime members are being offered a few perks, including an extra 20 percent off pre-order and new release video games, early access to Lightning Deals, and free same-day delivery in 27 cities on more than a million items. Amazon said tens of thousands of products are also available for one- or-two-hour Prime Now delivery in more than 30 U.S. cities.
