Aperion Intimus 422 Speaker System HT Labs Measures
Satellite Sensitivity: 82 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
Center Sensitivity: 81.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the 422-LR satellites (purple trace), S-8 subwoofer (blue trace), and 422-C center channel (green trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.
The 422-LR's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +3.91/–1.83 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3dB point is at 148 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 124 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 8.34 ohms at 247 Hz and a phase angle of –41.69 degrees at 174 Hz.
The 422-C's listening-window response measures +1.51/–3.08 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +1.04/–2.50 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 143 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 121 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 8.58 ohms at 244 Hz and a phase angle of –37.72 degrees at 154 Hz.
The S-8's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3dB point is at 39 Hz and the –6dB point is at 35 Hz. The upper –3dB point is at 141 Hz with the Crossover Frequency control set to maximum.—MJP
