Canton Movie CD 201 Speaker System and Onkyo TX-SR504 A/V Receiver HT Labs Measures: Canton
• Satellite Sensitivity: 86 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
• Center Sensitivity: 88.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the CD 220 satellites (purple trace), AS 80 SC subwoofer (blue trace), and CD 250 center channel (green trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.
The CD 220's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +1.15/–2.42 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3-dB point is at 115 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 100 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.39 ohms at 257 Hz and a phase angle of –49.15 degrees at 150 Hz.
The CD 250's listening-window response measures +0.94/–2.90 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +1.87/–2.34 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 118 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 103 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.36 ohms at 241 Hz and a phase angle of –46.34 degrees at 150 Hz.
The AS 80 SC's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 36 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 33 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 165 Hz with the crossover control set to maximum.—MJP
