In a move very few people are celebrating, Marvel Studios has announced that its two upcoming superhero films, Captain America and Thor, will be shown in 3D using 2D-to-3D conversion. Thor will bear the distinction of being the first Marvel Studios film to be released in 3D when it hits theaters in May of next year, followed by Captain America in June.

As for the films themselves, we'll just have to see how they'll shape up as trailers start trickling in. The Comic Con International convention in San Diego next week should bring some new footage for the upcoming movies.
