Dell and Nickelodeon slime up a netbook

DellnickIf you're going to give your kid a notebook computer, it might as well be pre-covered in slime. Dell and Nickelodeon have announced a partnership to produce a Nickelodeon-themed Inspiron Mini 10v netbook, based on the network's signature "green slime" motif. It's one of the first notebook computers aimed directly at kids, and one of the first based directly off of a cable network's aesthetics.

Besides the notebook's slimed-up look, it features a Nickelodeon-themed desktop interface designed by Stardock, with numerous links to entertainment and educational sites on Nickelodeon.com and Whyville. Under all of the kid-friendly design is Dell's Mini 10v netbook, a functional notebook computer with a 10-inch LCD screen, a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, and everything else you'd need to write a book report or put together a presentation.

Dell hasn't announced pricing for the netbook yet, but it will probably be around $300 or a bit higher, comparable to the company's unbranded Inspiron Mini 10v netbook. The book will be available in October at Wal-Mart, and over walmart.com and dell.com.
