Denon Introduces Multiroom Wireless Sound System
Denon today introduced its first multiroom wireless sound system. Dubbed HEOS, the compact system is available in three versions ranging in price from $299 to $599 and operated by an iOS/Android app designed for whole-house control.
The Wi-Fi-based systems are designed to offer easy access to popular online music services and use digital signal processing (DSP) for “enhanced sound quality” and dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi to extend the range and bandwidth of wireless systems.
In addition to streaming music from online services, the systems support playback via USB, an attached hard-drive, or a NAS (network-attached storage) drive.
An optional access-point range extender to improve/expand the performance of a wireless network will be available separately. Denon also plans to add a multiroom preamp and amplifier to the HEOS line in the coming months. The system is available in retail stores and on denon.com.
