DIY home theater features a hidden wall cabinet
Enterprising home theater buffs sometimes come up with clever ways to conceal their equipment. Apartment Therapy recently showed off this creative A/V cabinet, built behind a hidden wall panel upon which an HDTV is mounted. The panel is mounted with a pair of gas springs, so it can just pneumatically lift out of the way when you need to access the components.
Details are scarce, but the system presumably uses an IR blaster to get remote commands to the devices behind the panel. It's a really neat concept, even if it's not quite as polished as an expensive custom installation.
