Dynaudio Focus Series Speaker System HT Labs Measures

HT Labs Measures: Dynaudio Focus Series Speakers

L/R Sensitivity: 86.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

Center Sensitivity: 87 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

Surround Sensitivity: 86 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the Focus 220 tower (purple trace), Sub 250 subwoofer (blue trace), Focus 200 C center channel (green trace), and Focus 140 bookshelf speaker (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.

The Focus 220's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +0.99/–5.26 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3dB point is at 39 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 31 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.92 ohms at 176 Hz and a phase angle of –28.46 degrees at 80 Hz.

The Focus 200 C's listening-window response measures +1.39/–3.04 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +0.69/–4.11 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 51 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 42 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.88 ohms at 200 Hz and a phase angle of –26.32 degrees at 108 Hz.

The Focus 140's listening-window response measures +0.79/–4.09 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 53 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 44 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.35 ohms at 164 Hz and a phase angle of –48.21 degrees at 91 Hz.

The Sub 250's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 35 Hz and that the –6-dB point is at 30 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 207 Hz with the mode switch set to LFE.—MJP
