Elan TheaterPoint THP650LS Speaker System HT Labs Measures
L/R Sensitivity: 86 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
Satellite Sensitivity: 85.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the THP650LS left and right speakers (purple trace), the THP1200SW subwoofer (blue trace), and the THP525LS satellites (green trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes. EQ switches were set to nominal positions.
The THP650LS's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +6.47/–5.02 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3-dB point is at 74 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 59 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 5.80 ohms at 152 Hz and a phase angle of –26.70 degrees at 93 Hz.
The THP525LS's listening-window response measures +5.84/–6.46 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses in horizontal mode measures +5.52/–6.04 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 77 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 63 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 5.42 ohms at 1.6 kHz and a phase angle of –34.00 degrees at 96 Hz.
The THP1200SW's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 40 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 34 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 103 Hz using the LFE input.—MJP
