Guy Pearce stars as Leonard, a man with a bizarre disorder: the inability to form new memories. Ever since that fateful night when his wife was murdered, anyone Leonard has met, or anything he has done, simply vanishes from his mind. Who are his friends? Who are his enemies? What is the truth? The answers change from second to second as Leonard seeks vengeance for his wife's murder... and sinks into an abyss of uncertainty and danger.

Lionsgate delivers a newly remastered presentation that was approved by director Christopher Nolan. Unfortunately I didn’t have the previous Sony Blu-ray release to compare to but this new transfer is quite good with excellent fine object detail and bold color. The black and white sequences still have the veil of softness and slight film wear that was intended, but the color sequences look quite dimensional with good detail and saturation. Fine film grain is still evident throughout giving this a very film-like quality to it. The DTS-HD Master Audio mix sports a fantastic sound design that is moody and atmospheric with great use of the surrounds and low end to punctuate the mood. I’ve always been a big fan of this film’s dark score and how the sound was used to emphasize the confusion of the lead.

Extras are similar to the previous special edition DVD though I couldn’t find any indication that a true timeline cut is included (this was an easter egg on the special edition DVD). You still get a feature commentary with Nolan plus extensive interviews and behind the scenes features that delve into the story and film. The short story from Nolan’s brother is also included. A photo gallery of the tattoos and some trailers are also included.

This is still one of my favorite films from Nolan and despite knowing the twists I still find it just as engaging now as I did ten years ago. The new Blu-ray release looks fantastic making it an easy recommendation for fans and newcomers alike.
