CEDIA Expo, the annual trade show of the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association, has been steadily shrinking, and its management has been turned over to an outside company. So it’s curious to see InfoComm, the trade show devoted to pro AV, moving into consumer territory.

“We all know how AV experiences follow us throughout our lives,” says InfoComm CEO David Labuskes. So InfoComm 2018 will include an Integrated Life area showcasing home automation, security, lighting, voice control, automotive, and mobile AV technologies. It is a departure from the show’s normal focus on retail, hotels, education, transportation, and other pro applications. Labuskes says he wants to “open our industry to new avenues of innovation, creativity, and customer outcomes.“
