iTunes Store offering HD movies for purchase
Starting today, iTunes users can buy HD movies straight from the iTunes Store. HD movies have been available to rent over iTunes for some time, but this is the first instance of users able to buy them. Instead of $4 for a rental or $15 for an SD movie, you can now drop $20 to download and own high-def films permanently over iTunes.
Out of the iTunes Store's approximately 5,000 films available, around 1,200 can be viewed in HD. The store also offers over 40,000 television episodes, many in HD. Unlike films, which until now could only be rented in HD, season passes for HD television shows have been available for purchase for some time.
