James Loudspeaker Unveils All-In-One 2.1 Soundbars

James Loudspeaker, the Napa, California-based speaker designer and manufacturer, has introduced a new series of 2.1-channel soundbars that team speakers for left- and right-channel audio with a built-in subwoofer in a low-profile enclosure.

The new LR-S soundbars are described as “ideal for bringing clarity and full-range sound to applications where an external subwoofer is impractical” and can be customized to match “nearly any” flat-panel display.

Though initially engineered for integrators seeking high-quality audio for business and commercial applications — conference rooms, retail showrooms, nightclubs, etc. — the LR-S soundbars have found favor among residential installers who are using them in bedrooms and other areas of the home where surround sound not required.

The 2.1 “LR-S” configuration is available for the company’s SPL5, SPL6 and SPL8 Series soundbars and designed to match to James Loudspeaker’s new A2.1 three-channel amplifier. The amp is rated to deliver 3 x 40 watts in to 8 ohms and features an adjustable crossover, digital and analog inputs, and an infrared (IR) remote that provides access to a number of controls, including sub level, bass boost, phase, and master volume. All models are said to be capable of delivering bass below 60 Hz.

Each soundbar has six proprietary aluminum-cone woofers and eight aluminum- or beryllium-dome tweeters — four per channel — housed in an enclosure made of aircraft-grade aluminum that can be custom fitted and painted to match any display and décor. Standard colors include satin black, studio black, gloss black, dark titanium, light titanium, and mirror silver. A matching perforated aluminum grille is included along with brackets for mounting the bar directly to the TV.

Prices start at $3,500.
