Klipsch Brings Atmos to Reference Premiere Speaker Series
The new RP-280FA tower speaker (left in the photo, $2,400/pair) has a two-way height-channel driver complement integrated into the top of its cabinet for an all-in-one Atmos solution, while the RP-140SA ($500/pair) is a stand-alone, add-on module for upgrading an existing home theater speaker system to Atmos capability.
All of the new models are high-efficiency designs featuring a titanium tweeter loaded in Klipsch’s proprietary Tractrix horn and Cerametallic woofers. The horn’s outer layer is made of silicone-based rubber, which is said to eliminate resonance of the horn housing and improve detail and resolution.
Klipsch also introduced a new two-way center-channel speaker, the RP-450CA ($850).
The RP-280FA and RP-450CA are available with a walnut or black wood-veneer finish, while the RP-140SA has a brushed black-polymer finish. All models have a cloth-woven grille that attaches magnetically to the speaker.
In designing Atmos-enabled speakers for the home, Klipsch said it turned to its extensive expertise in designing highly efficient, controlled directivity speakers for commercial cinemas.
