Klipsch Launches High-Performance Subwoofer Line to Match Flagship Reference Speakers
Described as hyper-efficient with an “optimal balance between amplifier power, driver capability, and cabinet volume,” the new Reference Premiere subwoofers range in price from $749 to $1,799 and are designed to achieve maximum low-frequency extension without sacrificing output, accuracy, and speed, according to the company.
All models feature a front-firing spun-copper Cerametallic woofer and a class-D amplifier fed by an analog preamp, adjustable low-pass crossover and phase controls, and line-level LFE/RCA inputs that can be used simultaneously with an optional wireless input, allowing one subwoofer to connect to more than one speaker system.
Moving up the price/performance scale, the RP-1000SW ($749) combines a 10-inch driver with a class-D amplifier rated to deliver 300 watts RMS in an enclosure around 16.5 inches tall, 15 inches wide, and 30 inches deep. The sub is rated down to 19 Hz (±3 dB) with a specified maximum acoustic output of 118 dB.
The RP-1200SW ($999) mates a 12-inch driver with a class-D amplifier rated to deliver 400 watts RMS in an enclosure about 19 inches tall, 17 inches wide, and 26 inches deep. The sub is rated down to 16 Hz (±3 dB) with maximum acoustic output specified as 121 dB.
The RP-1400SW ($1,399) packs a 14-inch driver and a class-D amplifier rated to deliver 500 watts RMS in an enclosure around 21 inches tall, 20 inches wide, and 26 inches deep. The sub is rated down to 16 Hz (±3 dB) with a maximum acoustic output rating of 124 dB.
The flagship RP-1600SW ($1,799) teams a 16-inch driver with a class-D amp rated to pump out 800 watts RMS in an enclosure about 23 inches tall, 23.5 inches wide, and 27 inches deep. The sub is rated down to 14 Hz (±3 dB) with a rated maximum acoustic output of 125 dB.
All models are covered by a five-year warranty and boast shock-absorbing rubber feet that support an MDF cabinet with rounded corners. The finish is scratch-resistant ebony vinyl that has the look and feel of real wood and a woven black cloth grille. For more information, visit klipsch.com.
