Marantz Addresses Tight Spaces with Slimline AVRs

Marantz has packed a full suite of home theater and multiroom features into a pair of slimline AV receivers designed for tight spaces.

Standing only 4.1 inches tall, the 7.2-channel NR1608 ($749) and 5.2-channel NR1508 ($549) are rated to deliver 7 x 50 and 5 x 50 watts, respectively, and support high dynamic range 4K video (Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log Gamma with a firmware update) in addition to wireless streaming via Bluetooth, Airplay, and Denon’s multiroom Heos platform and control using the Marantz app.

Onboard streaming apps include TuneIn, Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Prime Music, iHeart Radio, Sirius XM, Sound Cloud, Tidal, Napster, and Deezer and both receivers support hi-res audio up to 192-kHz/24-bit and DSD5.6MHz from a variety of sources including USB storage via a front-panel port.

Highlights of the NR1608 include processing for 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos and DTS:X setups as well as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD, 4K upscaling, Audyssey MultEQ auto calibration with Editor App support, ISF video calibration, and eight HDMI inputs

The NR1508 has six HDMI inputs and excludes Atmos and DTS:X processing, 4K upscaling, ISF video calibration, and Audyssey Editor App support.
