McIntosh Introduces High-End Headphone Amp and Audio System

McIntosh Laboratory has announced the imminent arrival of the MHA100, the company’s first dedicated headphone amplifier, and the MXA70 integrated audio system.

The MHA100 has four digital inputs to allow playback of files in a wide variety of formats and a McIntosh-designed amp section with hand-wound impedance matching auto formers.

Aimed at audiophiles looking for a compact, all-in-one audio solution, the MXA70 combines a 50-watt stereo amplifier with a built in MHA100 headphone amp and a pair of two-way desktop speakers, featuring cast aluminum cabinets finished in high-gloss piano black. An optional powered subwoofer is available.

Due out in April, the MHA100 has a suggested retail price of $4,500; the MXA70 is due out in May at a suggested retail price of $6,000.
