An MP3 Player that Tells You Where to Go
The Garmin nuvi 350 is an MP3 player and GPS navigation system all rolled into one.
How many times has this happened to you? Listening to your MP3 player, drifting in the la-la land of tunes, you look up and discover you have no idea where you are. Lost. Well, the Garmin nuvi 350 ($899) has you covered. Besides an MP3 player with 700 megabytes of storage, an SD card slot for supplemental storage of MP3s, maps, and audio books, a USB port for easy data transfer, a headphone output, and dual mono speakers on back, it also incorporates a GPS receiver that can be pre-loaded with complete street maps of either North America or Europe. And its touchscreen makes all kinds of navigation simple. If you're planning on getting really lost, other software gives you even more tools. An optional travel guide contains 100,000 detailed points of interest for 20 countries. And optional language guide software translates 17,000 words and 20,000 phrases each for nine languages. You can even find the right phrase, then hit a button and a text-to-speech interface speaks it in the selected language. Battery life is said to be 4 to 8 hours, depending on usage. The nuvi is available now. Don't get lost.
