Klipsch Expands Heritage Collection with Compact Speaker System

Klipsch has expanded its popular Heritage series of mid-century modern-styled speakers with a powered speaker system designed to meet the needs of anyone who is looking for a simple home stereo or desktop setup.

Priced at $349 ($240 if you’re a Costco member!), the ProMedia Heritage 2.1 multimedia speaker system supports Bluetooth streaming and mates a pair of two-way satellite speakers with a subwoofer that houses an 8-inch woofer and its own amplifier in a rear-ported cabinet measuring 12 x 10 x 15 inches. Each satellite pairs a 4-inch polyfiber cone woofer with a Tractrix horn-loaded 1-inch soft-dome tweeter in an enclosure 8 inches tall with a slanted base that tilts the speakers up at a slight angle. Tractrix is the proprietary horn design Klipsch uses in its speakers.

Total system power is 220 watts peak, with 35 watts going to each satellite and 150 watts reserved for the subwoofer. The system includes a wireless remote control for simplified control and is rated down to 29Hz with a stated maximum output of 110dB. The system is offered in black ash or walnut wood veneer with gray or black woven fabric grilles that attach magnetically. Connections include stereo RCA analog inputs and a USB-A port; speaker and RCA-to-minijack cables are included.

Sennheiser Focuses on Fit and Noise Cancellation

Sennheiser says the newest member of its Momentum family of wireless earbuds features “next level” adaptive noise cancellation technology and a more comfortable fitting design than previous models in the series.

Slated to start shipping next week, the new Momentum True Wireless 3 earbuds ($250) boast a splash-resistant casing that houses a 0.28-inch dynamic driver and an adaptive noise-cancellation system that automatically adjusts to the level of ambient noise with a transparency mode for moments when the listener needs to be alert and aware of local sounds.

Drawing on parent company Sonova’s experience in hearing aids, the earbuds include a new app-controllable “sound personalization” feature that tailors the sound to the listener’s individual hearing. In addition to controlling volume and other functions, the Smart Control App also provides an equalizer with presets for further customization. Touch controls are provided for listeners who prefer direct operation without having to open the app.

Rated battery life is 7 hours, extendable to 28 hours via the charging case, which supports wired and wireless charging. Three embedded microphones handle voice for calls and summoning virtual assistants, and the earbuds support a wide range of audio codecs, including the low-latency, high-res-capable aptX Adaptive protocol. Sennheiser provides a variety of ear tips and optional silicon fins to ensure a comfortable fit.

The Momentum True Wireless 3 earbuds are available in black, white, or graphite. For more information, visit en-us.sennheiser.com.
