OLED, 4K, Laser TV Top LG's CES Intros
The OLED, which went to market in Asia late last year, will be arriving at U.S. retailers in March, LG representatives said, at a suggested retail price of $12,000.
Two new UltraHD models at the 55-inch and 65-inch sizes will join LG’s 84-inch model announced in late 2012. Like the 84, both new models feature the company’s Triple XD video processing engine for upscaling regular HD content to fill out the screen’s 8 million pixel (3840x2160) resolution. All are 3D capable, and will use LG’s just announced enhanced smart TV interface and Magic Remote wand-style controller. Both sets are due by summer.
The new model HETCO 100-inch “laser TV” is actually a two-piece projection system that includes a short-throw laser-driven projector that sits less than 6-inches tall and casts an image on a high-gain 100-inch screen that can be as little as 22-inches away. No timing or pricing was announced during the press conference. Check back for additional information from the show floor on this and other LG products.
