Movie rental kiosk company Redbox rented out its 1 billionth movie over Labor Day Weekend, and to celebrate the company has announced a big giveaway. Redbox is giving away a choice of a Sony home theater system or a trip to the Peoples' Choice Awards as a grand prize, and will be handing out $500 gift cards to 50 other lucky customers.

In a rather Willy Wonka-ish promotion, there are 50 "Golden Codes" hidden in Redbox kiosks across the country. Rent a movie at a kiosk, get the code, enter it in the web site, and you have a chance at the prize. According to the site, you can also get a free rental night just for entering the code. The actual card/theater/trip-winning codes are in specific kiosks with specific movies. Redbox's contest site features a map showing the general areas of the codes, and offering hints about which movies the codes are under.
