Sonos today announced that its latest software update (version 5.2) is now in public beta. The update is said to improve the sound quality of the Playbar with enhanced stereo imaging, EQ, and “volume balance.” Other highlights include:

• Multi-account music service support for a more personalized experience
• The ability to play, pause, and skip tracks from the lock screen of an Android smartphone or tablet
• The ability to search across all music sources, including songs stored directly on devices

The update will be released later this year but Sonos is encouraging users to try it in Beta on Android devices and through Sonos desktop controllers for Mac and PC.
