Sonus faber Announces Heritage Collection
Slated to arrive in the U.S. in July with a retail price of $4,000/pair, the new Minima Amator II combines a 1-inch silk-dome tweeter, 6-inch midwoofer, and custom crossover in a walnut-clad cabinet with a brass accent along its base and a sculpted baffle covered in leather — just like its predecessor. The rear panel of the 13-inch-tall cabinet is also covered in leather and boasts brass binding posts.
The tweeter employ’s the company’s proprietary Damped Apex Dome technology, which dampens the tweeter dome to improve high frequency reproduction by avoiding anti-phase-induced high-frequency roll-off.
Developed in Sonus faber’s lab in Vicenza, Italy, the woofer cone is made of cellulose pulp and natural fibers and mounted in a die-cast aluminum basket. The custom crossover features Clarity Cap ESA capacitors in a “semi-balanced” design in which the capacitors and inductors/coils are placed on the circuit’s negative rail to reduce sensitivity to radio frequency interference.
While at home on a bookshelf, the Minima Amator II can be paired with the company’s Carrara or Unicum stands, available at extra cost.
