Sony Shows Portable Ultra Short Throw Projector

Sony is planning to introduce a battery-powered portable projector this summer that can project images onto a wall from a very short distance, according to TheVerge.com.

Unlike the $50,000 LSPX-W1S 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector Sony introduced last year, this one would sell for around $800.

Slated to debut in Japan next month, the tiny projector measures about 3 x 5 x 5 inches and can project an autofocused 1366 x 768 image with 100 lumens of brightness between 22 and 80 inches in size, according to the report.

The projector can run for two hours per charge and in addition to hardwire hookups via an HDMI input uses Bluetooth to access content via a wireless hub connected to a PC or TV. Sony also plans to offer an optional stand that elevates the projector a few feet off the floor, the report said.
