Standard Blu-ray Prices: Will it Help?
We all love a bargain, especially on Blu-ray. But in the past, the prices for Blu-ray have been all over the map. And, there seemed to be no correlation between price and features on a disc. Some with tons of features and BD Live interactivity cost less than feature-less discs without BD Live.
How can you plan a budget? That's what retailers are saying too.
DVDs have had a set price of $17.99 wholesale, except for Paramount, at $18.30. And finally, the studios are coming up with a standard for Blu-ray. Warner wholesales at $24.99, Paramount at $25.95, Disney is $24.50, and Sony is at $25.95.
Stores had a hard time budgeting too, when they had no idea what an upcoming new release will go for.
Obviously . . .
you'll see stores such as Amazon.com and Best Buy selling titles for less than wholesale. The Dark Knight is retailing for less than the stores paid. Better snatch that one up before they come to their senses. —Leslie Shapiro
