MP3 ON DVD
Q. Using my PC, I copied two compilation MP3 CDs to a single DVD+R. None of my three DVD players will play this disc - but my DVD recorder plays it just fine. Why is that? Sam Osdoba Brooklyn, NY
A. Ian G. Masters says: The world of optical media moves so fast that makers of things like DVD players have a hard time keeping up. Most machines will assume a DVD is a DVD-Video disc, even though they might be able to read an MP3-encoded CD. Newer players can handle DVDs with MP3s; Videohelp.com suggests that there are now more than 400 such players. If you decide to buy one, take along some of your MP3-encoded DVDs to the store just to make sure.
