TI Goes 240
TI demonstrated a prototype technology that operates a DLP set at 240Hz and virtually eliminates motion lag. It was very convincing side-by-side with a 120Hz LCD, as you can clearly see from this state of the art photo.
The DLP set here used LED backlighting, which also appeared to eliminate rainbows, at least for me. According to the TI rep, LED backlighting operates about 8 times faster than the best color wheels.
In another demo, TI again showed its new DarkChip4, first seen at the 2007 CEDIA. It should begin showing up in more products soon (it is already used in the new Marantz VP-11S2 projector).
