Viddyou Goes With High Bitrate Service
YouTube is all good and fine, but jeez, sometimes the quality of the video is so poor you can barely see what's going on. Viddyou, a service similar to YouTube, had already launched an HD service (for a fee) but they just announced they're getting even better.
Viddyou's video sharing website just launched a consumer High Bitrate (HBR) video sharing service. With this new feature, users can upload near original quality video from a digital camera or camcorder that will look much better with less degradation than that other online video sharing website.
What are the specs of this new HBR service?
The new service can handle 1.1Mbps at 640 x 480, the resolution many digicams use.
According to their press release: "The innovative High Bitrate service introduces a new class of video sharing possibilities, at no cost," said Aaron Wadler, CEO and Co-Founder of Viddyou. "We are consistently pursuing new opportunities to push the limits of video delivery on the Internet, providing unmatched technology and capability within our market. Viddyou's High Bitrate functionality is a redefining step in the evolution of personal video sharing."
This sounds great, but is it enough to break the stranglehold YouTube has on this market? -Leslie Shapiro
