Video Projector Shootout: 8 Budget HDTV Models Compared

If you long for a really big picture, and have a room where you can keep the lighting dim, a good video projector may be the way to go. You can watch DVDs and HDTV broadcasts in all their glory on as screen as big as 10 feet across, or even more - the limiting factor is likely to be the amount of open wall space you have rather than the projector. And with the latest technology, you can have this from a quiet, compact unit that can be table- or ceiling-mounted, or even carried from room to room if you like, at a price competitive with those for big flat-panel and rear-projection HDTVs.
Sound & Vision magazine recently completed a comparison of eight moderately priced HDTV projectors. We put each of the eight through a series of tests to find which of the projectors would best suit the needs of the home theater enthusiast. Once the tests were done, we found two that stood out for their picture quality and two others that represented exceptional value. Below you will find a link to one projector which stood out for its value and one which stood out for its performance. You can also find the entire report on soundandvisionmag.com.
