Warner Bros. is in a bit of legal hot water due to its enthusiasm for tracking movie pirates. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie giant is being sued by a German company for allegedly pirating the company's anti-piracy technology.

The company, Medien Patent Verwaltung, claims that Warner Bros. has been using its unique source-tracking code in film prints since 2004. The code, created by MPV, allows pirated films to be traced back to their sources. Curiously, it seems that both MPV and Warner Bros. lay claim to patents called "Motion Picture and Anti-Piracy Coding," which makes the pending suit even more interesting.
