When All Weather Means All Weather
Ever wonder what claims of “weatherproof” or “all-weather” really mean when it comes to speakers built to withstand the elements of life outside?
There’s no question that these words mean different things to different brands. Is the speaker really waterproof or just water-resistant, meaning it probably won’t fare so well if submerged.
Terra, the Brunswick, Maine-based manufacturer of weatherproof speakers, recently froze one of its new models—the AC Five— in a 300 pound block of ice and trained a camera on it as the ice melted away. The resulting time-lapse video (below) speaks for itself. We like to call it the Terra Freeze.
