Yamaha Soavo Speaker System HT Labs Measures
• L/R Sensitivity: 90 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
•Center Sensitivity: 91.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
•Surround Sensitivity: 89 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the Soavo-1 L/R (purple trace), Soavo-900SW subwoofer (blue trace), Soavo-900C center channel (green trace), and Soavo-900M surround (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.
The Soavo-1's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +0.85/–2.89 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3-dB point is at 60 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 48 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.16 ohms at 144 Hz and a phase angle of –65.51 degrees at 67 Hz.
The Soavo-900C's listening-window response measures +2.79/–4.98 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +2.42/–7.24 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 87 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 74 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 5.62 ohms at 8.6 kHz and a phase angle of –61.16 degrees at 120 Hz.
The Soavo-900M's listening-window response measures +3.45/–4.19 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 84 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 73 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 6.34 ohms at 8.6 kHz and a phase angle of –56.52 degrees at 114 Hz.
The Soavo-900SW's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 30 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 28 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 94 Hz using the LFE input with the Preset switch set to 2-Normal.—MJP
