Outlaw Shoots for Your Shelf
The simply named Outlaw Bookshelf Loudspeaker (OBL) is designed and manufactured in the U.S. in "small" quantities using "audiophile grade" crossovers. Outlaw says each speaker is hand-built, tested, and matched to within 0.5 dB of the company's reference standard - a difficult and time-consuming process.
The OBLs incorporate a custom-designed 25 mm soft-dome tweeter, a long-throw 5.25" woofer, and identically sized internal and external port baffle areas with matching port flares that allows for fully symmetrical woofer excursion and "virtually inaudible port turbulence". The speakers use a true bi-amp/bi-wire design with separate crossovers for the woofer and tweeter and a proprietary three-position boundary compensation circuit, as well as a three-position high-frequency switch that adjusts for heavily damped or especially live rooms.
The Outlaw Bookshelf Loudspeaker is available in Black for $999/pair and in Cherry for $1,099/pair.
